Discussion Dinner 2019: Rural Land Use – Change, Conflicts & Constraints – Harewood End Agricultural Society

On Thursday 4th April 2019 Harewood End held its annual discussion dinner at Flanesford Priory. We were delighted to welcome James Tyler-Morris to talk about the topic “Rural Land Use – Change, Conflicts & Constraints”. The use of land can be a contentious issue, whether it is for traditional agriculture, intensive livestock production, housing or even compulsory purchase for infrastructure schemes. Rural planning is a challenge when developing and growing a farm business and can certainly be time-consuming and expensive.
James Tyler-Morris is a chartered surveyor who is currently working for HS2 negotiating with land-owners along the route of the huge, and controversial, new train route linking London with Birmingham. Prior to this James worked for Staffordshire County Council managing their rural portfolio.
The evening was extremely interesting with great discussion, debate and fantastic food.
